A VOICE For Our Clinic(s)

VOICE, a local grassroots organization, recently attended our Northern Virginia Dental Society Executive Committee meeting. Their goal was to discuss ways to amplify the support for Northern Virginal Dental Clinic (NVDC). You may not be aware, but V.O.I.C.E. has been instrumental in getting funding for our clinic at Bailey's Crossroads. They secured commitments for a total of $100,000 from Fairfax County, Arlington County and Alexandria a couple years ago. STATE & COUNTY LEADERS ADD $10K TO $140K IN PRIVATE FUNDS SECURED BY V.O.I.C.E.
Reston, VA – On Sunday afternoon January 29, over 350 members of faith communities and civic organizations in the Reston-Herndon area of Fairfax County gathered under the banner of V.O.I.C.E.
(Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement), and won the support of State and County leaders for an effort to strategically expand dental care for low income adults in the Western part of Fairfax County. VOICE Seeks Funds for Dental Care

Organization has raised $150,000, needs another $50,000 to provide free dental care. As a dentist practicing for 11 year, Kristin Donohue says she has seen plenty of lives that have been transformed by access to dental care. As a volunteer at a dental clinic that offers free care in Bailey’s Crossroads she has also seen her fair share of people who don’t have that access. Faith Groups Have Goal of Dental Care For All

Funding a New Dentist for Low Income Adults - 2009

Many VOICE congregations have food, shelter and other emergency services for the homeless and very low income.  One chronic problem they saw was poor dental care among their guests.  Poor dental care would cause people great pain, disruptions from work, and lead to other health problems.  Churches would often pick up the tab to get people help.  Read more about Funding a New Dentist for Low Income Adults - 2009

Defending Against State Budget Cuts to Dental Care- 2010

Restoring Bus Service to Arlington Families - 2011

When the Department of Human Services moved to a new location in Arlington, many low-income residents found the time and money they spent in transportation there greatly increased. To make her appointments, Carolina Espino had two choices. With two young children in tow, she could take two buses and cross busy streets to make the transfer.
