NORTHERN VIRGINIA, March 1, 2017 – VOICE (Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement), an 8-year-old citizens empowerment group representing 180,000 households here, today decried President Trump’s decision to create a Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement Office (VOICE) as, not only unnecessary and duplicative, but also a regrettable attempt to criminalize a whole category of U.S. residents, the vast majority of whom are law-abiding, tax-paying contributors to the country’s economy. 300 people gather to show their solidarity with Muslim and immigrant brothers and sisters

More than 300 people gathered on Sunday, Jan. 29th, to show their solidarity with Muslim and immigrant brothers and sisters and to start work on VOICE's new, 5-year issue agenda, which includes:

-- building power for the 2017 statewide elections;

-- combatting intolerance;

-- defending immigrant rights;

-- changing inequitable criminal justice laws and improving public safety;

-- increasing affordable housing;

-- defending and increasing funding to ensure a high-quality public education for all;

Groups denounce Stewart's anti-immigrant comments

Back in 2001, the Prince William Board of Supervisors passed a resolution declaring the county a “No-Hate Zone.”

In the wake of a divisive national election -- and board Chairman Corey Stewart’s recent vow to “hunt down” undocumented immigrants – two groups are calling on Prince William officials to denounce such comments and reaffirm the county’s 15-year-old pledge. Blessings for So Many - Crescent Apartments Stories

In 2013 VOICE organized a 250-person “One Reston Walk” raising the importance of preserving affordable housing and specifically raising concerns about the redevelopment of Crescent Apartments, a market-rate affordable building. In the end, šVOICE leaders and Crescent Apartments tenants got Board of Supervisors Chairperson Bulova and Supervisor Hudgins to support tenants with their goal of returning to the redeveloped complex. Engaging Bi-Partisan Elected Officials Around Comprehensive Immigration Reform - 2013
